Deactivate Your Account

First of all, you may not know that if you don’t want to use Facebook for a while, you do not necessarily have to delete your account. If you think there may be a possibility that you may decide to start re-using Facebook in the future, then you can deactivate your account rather than deleting it permanently. This means that other people will not be able to see or access your Facebook account, but your profile information such as your friend connections and all of your photographs are kept.

Simply follow this process to deactivate your account: Click on ‘Accounts’, ‘Account Settings’ and then ‘Deactivate account’.

If you later decide to reactivate your account, then it will be as you left it. To reactivate your account, simply log back into Facebook.

Delete Your Account

If you are sure that you want to delete your Facebook account permanently, then you should be aware that there is no going back. You have to submit a request to Facebook to delete your account and once you have done this, you will not be able to access any of the information on your account. This means that you will not be able to access any of your photos or friend information once it is deleted.

If you are fine with losing this information, then you must submit a form to Facebook asking that your account be deleted. This form is found in the Facebook help centre.

You will then have your account on Facebook deleted forever by Facebook.
